Over the past few decades, the Asia Pacific region has become one of the most vibrant and influential areas for computer graphics research and development. Countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore have established strong academic and industrial ecosystems that have advanced visualization, interactive techniques, digital content creation, computer animation, and human–computer interaction. These contributions range from fundamental research to large-scale commercial applications and have had a significant global impact.
For IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications (CG&A), this special issue represents a strategically important opportunity to highlight Asia Pacific as a major driver of worldwide innovation. By featuring both established leaders and emerging talent, the issue will connect regional advances with the international community and provide readers with a comprehensive view of the technologies, trends, and creative practices shaping the future of computer graphics.
Topics of Interest
We welcome submissions that showcase the latest research and applications from Asia in all areas of computer graphics and related fields. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to:
New Submission Category: Perspective and Overview Papers In addition to traditional research and application articles, this special issue also welcomes Perspective and Overview papers. These contributions provide forward-looking insights, synthesize emerging trends, or present comprehensive overviews of specific subfields within computer graphics and related areas. Authors are encouraged to consider this category when submitting, as it offers an opportunity to highlight unique regional directions, collaborative initiatives, and future research challenges shaping the Asia Pacific computer graphics community.
Submission Guidelines:
For author information and guidelines on submission criteria, visit the Author’s Information Page. Please submit papers through the IEEE Author Portal and be sure to select the special issue or special section name. Manuscripts should not be published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere. Please submit only full papers intended for review, not abstracts.
This special issue on 3D Web Technologies will also publish interactive 3D models on the IEEE DataPort as an archival collection showcasing the described work in the papers. Wherever appropriate, and especially for applications, each submission is expected to provide live URLs to validated, open-source, publishable X3D models that demonstrate the capabilities described. Similar inclusion of original non-X3D models (used for conversion into corresponding publishable X3D models) is also welcome.
